This is the week when thousands of people across Britain pledge to make a difference. With this generosity Christian Aid hope to raise millions for the world's poor and oppressed.
Christian Aid wants to defeat injustice and poverty by creating a movement of change so the voices of the powerless are no longer ignored by the powerful. The theme for Christian Aid week 2008 is Empowering People.
Through the new village water council ("pani parishad") with the help of Christian Aid, Minu Basar pictured here has learned how to harvest rainwater safely so that she doesn't have to travel for a whole day and cross a dangerous river to fetch drinking water.
If you would like to change lives for the better, when the Christian Aid envelope comes through your door .. please give generously.

Postie Sue is abandoning her bike and heading North to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon on 25th May to raise money for the charity Breathe Easy. Sue has already been promised a generous donation from Wrawby's Vicarage Motors.
If you would like to sponsor Sue she will be carrying a form with her over the next few weeks, and will also leave one in Wrawby Post office. We wish her well and we will let you know how much Sue raised.
Breathe Easy is the support network of the British Lung Foundation. The network includes over 22,000 people, with over 200 support groups across the UK - and the numbers are growing all the time.

A Woman was airlifted to hospital with a serious head injury following a road accident on the A18 Melton Road between Wrawby and Barnetby on April 8th. Although the incident was outside the 40mph limit, it prompted a reader to ask,
Is it not time for the police to put a speed camera on the 40 mile an hour section. As residents we are finding more and more motorists are ignoring the speed limit making it increasingly difficult and dangerous when turning into our drives. ![]()
