The new Travel Pass

From 1 April 2008, people who are aged 60 or over and people with disabilities are eligible for free travel on local bus services throughout England.

Buses

Within North Lincolnshire, you may travel free on any local bus service at any time of day. This also applies to journeys on local buses starting in North Lincolnshire on routes to Hull, Grimsby, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Doncaster and Goole.

In the rest of England outside North Lincolnshire, your pass entitles you to free travel on local buses between 9.30am and 11 pm only, Monday to Friday. It entitles you to free travel all day throughout England without time restriction on Saturday, Sunday and on bank holidays.

Your pass does not entitle you to free travel on National Express coach services to Doncaster or beyond, or on other long distance coaches. These are not 'local bus services'.

Local Trains

You may travel at half fare on local trains within North Lincolnshire and as far as Doncaster, and Cleethorpes. You may also travel to and from Lincoln and Gainsborough but these journeys must be via Barnetby only. (There is one-third off some rail fares).

If you are blind, deaf, limbless, severe learning disabled or unable to walk, you will have a two-train symbol on the front of your pass at the top. This means that you may travel free on local trains as far as Doncaster and Cleethorpes. You may also travel free to and from Lincoln and Gainsborough but these journeys must be via Barnetby only.

Your pass does not provide free or reduced fare travel on rail services except those listed above as 'local trains'.

Your pass does not entitle you to free travel on trams, ferries or the London tube network.

Companions

If your pass has a +C symbol on the top right hand corner, this means that you may take a companion with you to help you on your journey. The companion can travel free on buses within North Lincolnshire and at half fare on local trains. (One third off some rail fares).
