Broadband Speeds in Wrawby

Letters to Wrawby From Graham Brand, October 2007

I do not know if you have covered the Wrawby broadband topic within recent newsletters, but I am getting increasingly frustrated by a slow broadband connection (Talk Talk) in Wrawby. I am reviewing my internet package and wondered if you may have commissioned any survey among the readers with regard to "best broadband connections speeds" across the village.
I have obviously looked at what the providers suggest their speeds are up to, but there is nothing like first-hand experience. I am sure I am not on my own in looking for the fastest broadband provider in the village.

A result, and Service Provider errors

Graham Brand writes in November, 2007

Numerous calls to TalkTalk's offshore call centre then after one hour on hold to their Warrington technical support centre they were able to uprate my speed instantly from 0.5mb to 3mb while I was on the 'phone.

Apparently the broadband profile that TalkTalk set up at the exchange was incorrect. Their error, they said. But now I have my broadband solution although it has taken me about two years to sort out.

We will look to publish the outcome in a future newsletter. Broadband digital divide looms

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7115850.stm

People living in rural parts of the country have much less choice of broadband providers, are likely to get slower speeds and pay a different price. And with super-fast broadband on the horizon, some commentators think things are set to get a lot worse.
